My love for fitness started back when I was young. I was a high school and then college wrestler, which taught me how to compete but also how to train athletes to compete. For seven years I coached high school wrestling at Indian Hills in New Jersey. Over years of coaching, our training evolved around strength and explosive methods and General Physical Preparedness (GPP).

The decision to open Signature Health & Fitness, back in 2012, came from not only my love for fitness but also to try and create something in my hometown that allowed people to get fit and healthy at a reasonable price. I have seen transformation from people who have never worked out a day in their lives to student athletes who have been training for years. I believe working out can be for anyone which is why I have created programs that work for all fitness levels.

Amanda Lane

My name is Amanda Lane and I am a Personal Trainer at Signature Health & Fitness. I am originally from California but have lived all over the US as well as in Canada. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Major in Marketing & Minor in Information Systems.

I have always had a passion for fitness and nutrition - I grew up playing sports, I was constantly working out, my first job was at a gym and when I wasn't in season for a sport I was playing I was doing stats for other teams. When my family opened up Signature Health & Fitness in Dubuque I decided it was something I wanted to be a part of any way that I could. This passion led to my decision to become a certified Personal Trainer. About a year after I became a trainer I decided to get certified in Yoga Up (yoga sculpting class) and another year after that I became 200 hour yoga trained because I fell in love with yoga - I never thought that would be something that interested me but once I got involved I couldn't stop and am so happy I started my yoga journey.

I have always helped my friends and family with their personal fitness goals and in doing so I realized how much I enjoy being a part of their fitness journey and helping them build a healthier lifestyle. I understand how valuable everyone's time is and know that when you make a commitment to a healthier more fit life you want to make sure your time in the gym is productive and gives you the results that you are looking for. Working with a personal trainer ensures that you learn how to work out and what you need to do in order to get the results you want. Janel Hickson

Hi! My name is Janel Hickson, and I am a Personal Trainer at Signature Health and Fitness. I was born in Florida but I have lived in Dubuque since I was a little girl. I am now married with 2 kids, 3 dogs and 1 cat. I have been with Signature Fitness since 2018 as a yoga instructor but recently have been certified in personal training.

During each of my pregnancies, I gained over 70 pounds due to Hypothyroidism. After my kids were born I was uncomfortable and unhappy with my weight gain but I was too afraid to go to a gym. I tried at home work out programs for a while but I was not quite sure what I was doing and I started to plateau after a while. During this time my oldest was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I had already fallen in love with working hard for results, having a routine and changing my eating habits, but now had more motivation to work harder. During this time, it had crossed my mind to become a personal trainer, however, I had a stigma on how a trainer should look to others, so I wasn’t ready to take the leap to continue my education. Taking that first step into the gym was the hardest for me but I started with yoga classes and quickly fell in love with this atmosphere. After I fell in love with yoga I enrolled in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program and have been teaching yoga since.

After a while, I decided I needed something more. I wanted to see more results than what the home workouts and yoga classes were providing. I started working with a trainer at Signature where I learned more about weight lifting and again fell in love. I wondered why I waited so long to take this leap! Having a person there to demonstrate things, answer questions, provide motivation and hold me accountable was just what I needed. I saw amazing results and learned more than I ever expected.

I have had several friends and family members reach out to me for help over the years after seeing my progress. I enjoyed providing the advice and seeing their own results. This interaction pushed me to finally make that jump to complete my Personal Trainer Certification through ISSA! I passed the program in 2019, and I am currently working on a Nutrition Coach program through ISSA.

My goal as a trainer is to help other people bust out of their shell like I needed to. Whether they are just starting out, afraid of failure or intimidated by the gym atmosphere, I want to help them become more comfortable with themselves. It takes time to build the confidence, but I understand! Everyone needs to start somewhere, and I would love the opportunity to help those who want the help to make that first step. Let me show you where to start, teach you the tools you need and guide you on your fitness journey to a new, healthier and happier you!

Kale Mccormick

I believe in focusing on the things in life that you control and the rest will take care of itself. Exercise and proper meal plans put you in control and I am here to put those reigns into your hands! I have experience working with clients with goals ranging from weight/fat loss, to strength gains and sport specific training. I have also trained myself as an amateur power lifter, CrossFit athlete, and endurance athlete. I have coached sports from Elementary, Middle/High School all the way up to the NCAA Level. I have an overwhelming desire to coach you, and help you become the best version of yourself.

Eli Licht

Hi!  My name is Eli Licht and I am a Personal Trainer, Fitness Class Instructor and a Certified Health and Wellness Coach.

Previously, I was in education and I truly enjoyed teaching people to reach their goals, since then my focus has shifted to Wellness. In 2013 I had developed poor health habits due to a busy family life.  I knew my new unhealthy lifestyle couldn't be something I could sustain and because of that I decided to make a change, which made my family my WHY. I developed better eating habits and started working out, but I couldn’t have done this without help. The help that I received from others during my fitness journey is what inspired me to want to help other people. I will be at your side to help you reach your goals, as people did for me.

We will find your WHY, identify your barriers and show you how training at Signature will fit into your busy lifestyle. Life is busy, but you should never be too busy to stop focusing on yourself!  

I believe that optimal health is meant for all persons and I am passionate about making this become a reality for you! I am excited to share my passion for Wellness education to Signature Health and Fitness.

Cassandra Foley

After graduating from UNI with a bachelors in Health Promotion Cassie joined Signature as a member in 2015. Realizing her passion for helping others reach their health and wellness goals she got her ACE Health Coaching Certification in 2016 and her ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification in 2019. Cassie's goal as an instructor is to give people the knowledge to move their bodies correctly to see the biggest results, while actually enjoying the workout!
